This spring break might have just been the best yet. And not because we were able to sleep in until 8 EVERY SINGLE DAY for the first time in almost 8 years. Well, let’s be real. That’s mostly why. You guys, we’ve hit the sweet spot. Both kids are old enough to dress themselves and brush their teeth and reach things in the pantry and go potty without us and SLEEP UNTIL 8. Glorious, wonderful, Angels singing to the heavens, marvelous spring break!
Apparently, Brian and I aren’t the only ones who thought this spring break was pretty epic. Last night, on his way upstairs to bed, Jet stopped (likely just stalling bedtime, but whatevs…I’ll take it) to tell us that this was the best week he’s had all year. The best week of 2015. Maybe even the best week of his life. I would like to think his week was so amazing because of all the beauty sleep I’ve caught up on, but he likely had other reasons. But, we didn’t go on any epic far-away adventures. He didn’t get to see the Grand Canyon or surf the waves on Ventura Beach.
We staycationed. We spent our week adventuring and exploring in North Georgia. There are plenty of things to see and do locally, and this week, we had the time.
I know spring break is probably over for you too, but if you’re local, you might want to incorporate some of these low budget activities into your summer plans!
But first, Easter. Because they’re JUST SO CUTE, you guys.
Now, here we go.
Hike up Wildcat Mountain – FREE
Dancing on Wildcat Mountain – Also, FREE
Tallulah Gorge (we just did a minimal hike/stair climb to the suspension bridge) – $5 per car/family
Lake Seed was a super fun find in the middle of nowhere. We’ll definitely be back! It’s FREE to hang out and picnic and swim, like we did. But if you ever want to stay and camp, it’s $10 a night.
Gwinnett Braves Game, Opening night. We purchased these tickets on a Cyber Monday deal for $5 each.
She’s super into pictures with me. Obviously.
Trout fishing at Dick’s Creek. No, my friends, you did not misread that. Trout fishing. With that net. And those goggles. Please, let’s have coffee so I can tell you all the funnies from that day. FREE
Y’all. We just can’t get enough. More Gwinnett Braves action. The kids are members of the Chopper’s Kids Club, so they get in all Sunday home games FREE. Currently, memberships are $25 each. Brian and I purchased our tickets at a discount rate here.
Sunday pre-game catch on the field. Thank you sweet baby Jesus for no injuries. I mean, have you seen me throw a ball? You’ve at least seen me hit a ball, right? No? You might want to watch THIS.
How was your spring break? We’re looking for more fun local adventures, so please leave us some suggestions in the comments below!
